Danai Topouza

Danai is a research associate at the Computational Genomics Laboratory who recently obtained her MSc in the Experimental Medicine program at the Department of Biomedical and Molecular Sciences, Queen’s University. Danai completed her undergraduate training at Queen's University, graduating with a BScH in Biology and a minor in Computer Science.

With a background in molecular genetics and computing, Danai hopes to combine her expertise to investigate the underlying mechanisms of disease traits. Her previous work investigates the biological networks that modulate chemotherapy response in ovarian cancer patients; through analysis and integration of RNA-seq and miRNA-seq patient data, she identified novel transcriptional networks that are involved with chemotherapy resistance. This work has been published in BMC Cancer and in a recent bioRxiv preprint.
