Danai Topouza

Danai is a MSc candidate in the Experimental Medicine program at the Department of Biomedical and Molecular Sciences, Queen’s University. Danai completed her undergraduate training at Queen's University, graduating with a BScH in Biology and a minor in Computer Science.

With a background in molecular genetics and computing, Danai hopes to combine her expertise to investigate the underlying mechanisms of disease traits. Her previous work includes investigating the mechanisms of programmed cell death in Saccharomyces cerevisiae through transcriptomic analysis of RNA-seq data.

Her current thesis work investigates the biological networks that modulate chemotherapy response in ovarian cancer patients; through analysis of RNA-seq and Whole Exome Sequencing patient data, she hopes to discover gene variants and networks that are involved with chemotherapy resistance.
